Prevention and Intervention

WELCOME!

CAHELP is proud to offer prevention and intervention support and services that help schools and districts develop systems of support for staff, students, and families.  These services help to transform school environments and cultures that might limit their ability to succeed.

The prevention and intervention team supports staff, students, and families through services that examine the climate and culture of schools while looking for ways to improve the academic success for all students. The prevention and intervention team provides training, coaching, and technical support at the local, regional, and state level to assist with sustainability.

Our goals are accomplished by working in collaboration with various departments such as the Desert Mountain Special Education Local Plan Area (DMSELPA) and Desert Mountain Charter SELPA (DMCS), Desert Mountain Children's Center (DMCC), Outreach, and more. Take a look below to find more information about our supports and services.

Culture and Climate

"School culture and climate are formed by a range of factors that shape students' perceptions of school and their motivation to learn. These factors include the physical, social, and emotional aspects of the school that support meaningful teaching and learning" (CDE, 2016).

  • Cultural Responsiveness

  • Social Emotional Learning

  • Trauma-Informed

PBIS

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students' behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable, and safe learning environments where everyone thrives. (Center on PBIS)
