Desired Results Developmental Profile

The Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) is an assessment tool used in California to monitor the development and learning progress of young children, particularly those with Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) or Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). It helps educators and families understand a child's progress, inform instruction, and improve programs.

SELPA Role

The SELPA assists member local education agencies (LEAs) with implementing the DRDP, and is responsible for ensuring that special education staff who administer the DRDP complete the required training and have access to necessary resources. The SELPA facilitates the reporting of DRDP data to the CDE. In essence, the SELPA acts as a bridge between the CDE, which oversees the DRDP system, and the local level where the assessment takes place. Their role is to ensure that the DRDP is implemented effectively and that its results are used to improve outcomes for children with disabilities.
