CALPADS

California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System

The California Longitudinal Pupil Achievement Data System (CALPADS) is the cornerstone of California’s K–12 education data system. It collects and maintains comprehensive student-level data, including:

  • Demographics

  • Program participation

  • Enrollment history

  • Course completion

  • Discipline records

  • Statewide assessment results

  • Special education student data

CALPADS enables schools and districts to track student progress over time, evaluate programs, and calculate accurate graduation and dropout rates. It also ensures timely and accurate reporting to meet both state and federal requirements.

For local education agencies (LEAs), CALPADS provides immediate access to longitudinal data and up-to-date student information. This access supports informed decision-making—helping staff place students in the right programs, determine if assessments are needed, and respond to data inquiries with ease.

By streamlining data collection and reporting, CALPADS strengthens accountability, promotes equity, and supports student success throughout California’s public education system.
