Temporary Intensive Support Assistance (TISA)
A Temporary Intensive Supports Assessment (TISA) is a specialized evaluation used to determine whether a student requires additional supports to benefit from their educational program. This process typically includes a review of records, interviews, in-depth observations, and, when appropriate, formal assessments.
The collected data is compiled and analyzed, then summarized in a report for the IEP team to review and use in determining next steps. The team is responsible for identifying any additional supports the student may need—such as accommodations, modifications, specialized equipment, or additional staff—and specifying the frequency and duration of those supports.
