A conservatorship is a legal arrangement where a court appoints someone to help an adult who cannot fully care for themselves. General conservatorships are for adults who are gravely disabled, while limited conservatorships are for adults with developmental or cognitive disabilities and only cover areas where support is needed. Parents or family members usually serve as conservators, and the court guides the process to ensure the person’s safety and well-being.
