Deaf & Hard of Hearing

We are committed to ensuring that students who are deaf or hard of hearing have full access to their education because every student deserves the opportunity to learn, communicate, and participate in school life.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH) services are part of special education and are tailored to meet each student’s unique needs through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process. These services may include:

  • Instruction in American Sign Language (ASL)

  • Qualified interpreters to support communication

  • Specialized instruction to build academic and language skills

  • Opportunities to connect with peers who use ASL

Our role as a SELPA is to work closely with families and school districts to make sure students receive the supports they need—whether in a general education classroom, a specialized program, or a combination of both.

For more information about DHH services, please contact your school district or reach out directly to the SELPA office.
