Compliance & Systems Monitoring
The SELPA partners with school districts to support a shared commitment: ensuring that students with disabilities receive the services and opportunities they deserve. Through expert guidance, tools, and training, we help districts meet legal requirements while keeping student needs at the center.
Our role includes supporting the development of legally compliance individualized education programs (IEPs), helping member districts uphold a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment (LRE), and guiding improvement through data-informed decision making. We assist in monitoring activities, help resolve areas of non-compliance, and collaborate with districts to strengthen their special education systems.
One of the key tools in this work is the Compliance and Improvement Monitoring (CIM) process. SELPA provides targeted resources and supports to help member districts engage in the CIM process, address identified needs, and move toward reduced levels of monitoring.
