Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)is a multi-tiered behavioral framework for enhancing the adoption and implementation of a continuum of evidence-based interventions to achieve academic and behaviorally significant outcomes for all students. Tier Two interventions provide a secondary layer of supports for all students who are not responding to Tier One supports. Teams will practice using the function of behavior principles.

Required Courses

  • Day 1: Linking Tier 1 and Tier 2. Tier 1 takes a look at team composition, implementation, and using evaluation to determine next steps of PBIS implementation. Linking Tier 1 to Tier 2, supports individuals with specific skills sets included on the team to implement Tier 2 interventions using data to evaluate next steps and fidelity of Tier 2 interventions.
  • Day 2: Tier 2 Systems Development. This day will look at the critical features of Tier 2 interventions, matching student needs to practices, and mental health supports in the classroom.
  • Day 3: Check In Check Out (CICO) Intervention, CICO SWIS. Overview of Tier 2 systems and Check In Check Out (CICO) Intervention. Data-based decision making
  • Day 4: Youth Mental Health First Aid. See Behavioral Supports section for description
